How Goods Recycling Keeps Reusable Clothing in Circulation

Every week, Goods Recycling collects clothing, shoes, and other reusable goods from communities throughout the DMV. Here’s a look at what happens after those items are collected.

When clothing and shoes are placed in a Goods Recycling collection bin, that is only the beginning of the process.

Collected material is brought to our facility, where our team sorts through thousands of pounds of goods each week. Items are evaluated based on condition and their potential for continued use.

Our goal is to extend the useful life of as much material as possible through resale, redistribution, reuse in other markets, or recycling when appropriate.

As our collection network continues to grow throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia, so does the amount of material we are able to collect and process.
