OUR STORY

Built Around Reuse

Goods Recycling was built around a simple idea: useful goods should have the opportunity to stay in circulation rather than becoming waste. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Goods Recycling operates a regional collection and reuse network focused on keeping reusable goods in circulation and supporting community-based reuse efforts throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Through a growing network of collection locations, we collect clothing, shoes, accessories, household textiles, and other reusable material for sorting, reuse, redistribution, resale, or recycling when appropriate.

WHAT WE DO

From Collection to Continued Use

Goods Recycling manages the process from community collection through sorting and responsible material handling.

1. Community Collection

We collect reusable goods through bins, donation center trailers, community partners, and other collection programs across the DMV.

2. Transportation

Our team regularly services collection locations and transports collected material to our operation for processing.

3. Sorting

Collected items are sorted based on condition, type, and potential for continued use.

4. Continued Use

Depending on condition and demand, goods may continue through resale, redistribution, reuse markets, or recycling.

Goods Recycling does not rely on financial donations from the public. Our operations are funded primarily through the responsible resale and recycling of donated goods.

Select items are sold through our online store, including eBay, while other usable clothing and goods are distributed to nonprofit partners, reused through other channels, or recycled when appropriate.

Revenue generated through resale helps pay for the collection, transportation, sorting, and processing required to keep thousands of reusable items in circulation and provide goods to local organizations that need them.
