What Is Goods Recycling?

Goods Recycling is a small, local nonprofit organization that takes pride in helping our community recycle clothing responsibly with a focus on supplying needed items to local charity partners. We’ve successfully raised and distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to charities, making a difference to people here in the District, Maryland, and Virginia. We have distributed hundreds of thousands of pieces of clothing, recycling neighbor to neighbor, and continue to do so every day. We sort all donations locally, allowing our charity partners to rely on us to serve their clothing needs throughout the seasons.

How Does Goods Recycling work?

We provide a way for neighbors to conveniently help neighbors in need by recycling clothing and household goods at donation bins located throughout our community. We sort all the donations into almost 100 different categories. Many of these categories we created to fulfill the needs of the charities we work with. For example, we store dresses and ball gowns all year long to send to the Marine Corps Community Services, in Camp Lejeune. They are then given away to the enlisted Marines and their spouses before the annual Corps ball. During summer we’re usually storing most items like coats and gloves, so that when cold weather hits we have items on hand to match demand.

COOL! So do i need to use the donation bin?

We think it’s pretty cool, too. When you’ve got stuff to donate and a cause you care about, Goods Recycling can also provide you with shipping labels so you can send in as many goodies as you’d like. Once we’ve got your donations, we sort them, catalog them, and figure out the marketplace value. Then we subtract the shipping cost and donate 50% of the remainder to the charity of your choice. The other 50% goes towards good things like paying our rent, ensuring our employees earn a fair wage, taxes, etc.

When you partner with Goods Recycling, you’re doing so much more than recycling or donating: You’re supporting critically important community service providers with meaningful support.
